Barnaby Smith is a General Surgeon with an interest in Surgical Oncology, Upper Gastrointestinal surgery, and hernias - both laparoscopic and open techniques. Barnaby is employed as a surgeon and endoscopist by the Bay of Plenty DHB at both Tauranga and Whakatane Hospitals and regularly works within the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Barnaby is a full member of the NZ Conjoint Committee (Upper and Lower GI endoscopy) and Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand (BreastsurgANZ). After gaining his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Barnaby spent two years in the United Kingdom at Tertiary centres of excellence refining his skills in Melanoma, Surgical Oncology, and Upper Gastrointestinal surgery.
