Nigel Giles

Background - After completing his general surgical training and obtaining the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Nigel trained in orthopaedic surgery at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore, University of Wales, Cardiff.   He then spent his Fellowship year at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney.

During his time in Exeter, Nigel was lead clinician for trauma, and the Director of the Department.  A current member of the British Orthopaedic Association, he is also a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association, and of the New Zealand Hip, Knee, and Shoulder and Elbow Societies.

Nigel wanted to move to New Zealand,  particularly rural New Zealand, to give his family the fantastic opportunity of living in a clean, green, multicultural society.

He now finds a great deal of satisfaction in treating a rural population that has a significant need for trauma and orthopaedic surgery and he believes it is essential that patients are as involved as possible in decisions regarding their orthopaedic conditions.
